FAQ - How do I help TrackerDog users to translate TrackerDog into the local language?

Contributed by Christian Reuner

  1. Download the RsrcEdit software from Quartus and install it into your Palm.

  2. Follow the instruction below to translate TrackerDog into your local language.

  3. Email the localized TrackerDog.prc file to td @ a0soft.com.

Instruction

  1. After installing on the Palm, tap on the RsrcEdit program icon to open it.

  2. On the left side, you find a list (alphabetical) with all programs installed in your RAM memory. Look for TrackerDog by using the up/down arrows. If you don't find it, you probably have installed it on your memory card. Move it from there to your RAM memory (internal memory of the Palm device).

  3. When you have found TrackerDog, mark it by tapping and tap "Open" (in the lower middle of the program window).

  4. Now you see all different resources of TrackerDog. For translation, it must be distinguished between these types: MBAR 1000, Tbmp xxxx, tFRM xxxx, Talt xxxx, tSTL xxxx, tSTR xxxx, code, data and nfnt (xxxx are numbers from 1000 to 9999).

These types must be translated: MBAR 1000, tFRM, Talt and tSTR. Other types must not be translated otherwise TrackerDog can crash and doesn't work any more.

  5. At first open MBAR 1000 by tapping "Open". You see the menu from the top of TrackerDog with its entries on the left side.

Tap these points one after another and change them on the top right, not in the window on the left. After translating, tap "Apply" to make the changes be saved. After translating, these points tap one of them again and then "Open". Now you see the list of the topic that appears when you tap on this in TrackerDog. Tap the english words and translate it at "Title".

For saving, you also need to tap "Apply" after each translation.

  6. The next type for translation is Talt. Just open all the Talts one after another and you can just easily change the title and the message directly in the window.

When there is "OK" or "Cancel" or anything else on the bottom, you must tap this before you can translate it. When you tap "Preview", you can see how the message appears in TrackerDog.

  7. The next type that must be translated is tFRM. After "Open" the fFRMs after another tap on each topic to translate it (Title in the appearing Title window and the others in the window that appears after tapping "Open").

  8. The last type to translate is tSTR. "Open" it easily and translate it.

After translating, close RsrcEdit and open TrackerDog to look if all changes can be viewed as wanted. If not, go to RsrcEdit again and change these words.
For the tFRMs and the MBAR 1000, you can change the width and how many pixels it should appear from the left. Have and look and try.
